Hospital Rebuild Update

Our Clinical Services Plan is progressing with the Department of Health. The final report is expected by June to guide our service provision for the next 10 -15 years.

Building works are being undertaken in stages.
Stage 1 – Community Care Wing

*anticipated completion date Christmas 2023
(includes – Community Care, Allied Health, Function Room, GP Clinic, Administration, Reception, IT Server Rooms)
Stage 2 – Corporate Services Wing
*anticipated completion date Christmas 2023
(includes – Kitchen, Stores and Laundry)

Stage 3 – Acute & Urgent Care Wing
*anticipated completion date June 2024
Stage 4 – Aged Care Wing
*anticipated completion date December 2024
(*assuming no major delays or interruptions)

Community Services

Social Support Group
Our Social Support Group program has returned to Rochester, operating out of Rochester Community House, Mackay Street, on Mondays and Fridays until Stage 1 of our rebuild is complete.
District Nursing
Services are available to people of all ages including in the Rochester, Elmore, Nanneella, Lockington and surrounding communities including:

  • Hygiene assessment and assistance
  • Medication supervision
  • Wound care management
  • Monitoring and support with chronic illness
  • Palliative care nursing
  • Nursing care following hospital discharge
  • Assessment and referral to other service providers

Allied Health Services
Services are available at our Jeffrey Street, Elmore site (adjacent to the Elmore Medical Practice) for:

  • Podiatry
  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Dietetics
  • Group exercise classes
  • Social work
  • Exercise Physiology

Podiatry and Physiotherapy outreach services are also available in Rushworth and Lockington.
The RFDS Community Transport Service can assist with free transport to and from Elmore for appointments.

COVID & Flu Vaccinations

COVID cases are rising in our community. If it has been 6 months since your last COVID infection or vaccination, it’s time to get your booster.
COVID boosters are available for everyone aged 18 and over, and new bivalent boosters are available to protect you from the more recent variants of COVID.
Vaccinations for COVID and influenza are available at your local GP or pharmacy & can be administered

Urgent Care

Our UCC continues to operate from Rochester Medical Clinic, 40-44 Moore Street.
8:30am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
Call 0428 358 892 for appointments. Walk-ins also welcome.
Our Urgent Care team is ready and available to assist you with symptoms and conditions such as:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Allergic reactions
  • Asthma
  • Back or muscle pain
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Cuts and minor burns
  • Dehydration
  • Diarrhoea
  • Dressings
  • General injuries
  • Pain & pain management (analgesia)
  • Snake bite
  • Sprains & strains
  • Vomiting
  • Wound Care
